On Wednesday afternoon, the AG's Independent Investigations Division (IID) released new information following the crash that started in Calvert County and came to a deadly conclusion in Anne Arundel County on Monday morning.

Early on May 13, the Calvert County Sheriff's Office received multiple reports of cars being broken into in the Huntingtown neighborhood, and while deputies were investigating, they were alerted to a vehicle believed to be associated with the car break-ins in the area.

At approximately 1:45 a.m. on Monday, deputies responded to Queensbury Drive and spotted a suspect speeding through the area, prompting a traffic stop in Neeld Estates in Chesapeake Beach, when several suspects bailed, leading to foot pursuits.

During a search for those suspects, two additional vehicles entered the neighborhood at a high rate before fleeing in separate directions, both fleeing on Plum Point Road, one heading toward Bayside Road and the other in the area of Route 4, though deputies were able to apprehend two of the suspects who bailed from the initial stop.

One of the vehicles was pursued for hours leading to a 25-mile pursuit that ended in Harwood when the car struck a pick-up truck in the intersection of Birdsville Road and Solomons Island Road in Anne Arundel County.

Three juvenile occupants of the fleeing vehicle were taken to the hospital, where the front seat passenger died. The driver suffered critical injuries, and a passenger in the backseat was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the pick-up was also treated and evaluated.

Including four suspects that were captured in Neeld Estates, all six are from Glen Burnie, according to the Calvert County Sheriff's Office. All three vehicles involved were stolen.

On Wednesday afternoon, the IID identified deputies Wyatt McDowell, an eight-year veteran assigned to the criminal investigations bureau and Michael Lewis, a seven-year veteran assigned to the patrol bureau as those involved in the incident.

Body-worn camera footage of the incident is expected to bepri released before the end of the month. The underage victim's ID is being withheld due to privacy laws.

The incident remains under investigation. More information is expected to be released.
